Pineapples are loaded with nutrients and are great for boosting immunity. While eating the fruit alone is good enough, you might have a lot of peels left over that need to be discarded. But what if we told you there was a way to use pineapple peels? Boost hydration and load up on antioxidants with this drink that’s made from discarded pineapple peels.

While it doesn’t take long to prepare all the ingredients for this drink, the time-consuming part comes when it's on the stove. You may have to wait a while before the pineapple peels impart their flavour onto the liquid. After you’ve strained it, cool it down in the refrigerator or enjoy it immediately with ice cubes.

Since the main ingredient for this drink are the discarded peels of the pineapple, you want to ensure that you’re cleaning your pineapple as thoroughly as possible. If possible, opt to go for an organic pineapple that has less contaminants. Pineapples have a lot of Vitamin C. One cup of pineapple contains around 78.9 mg of vitamin C (US Department of Agriculture), which is more than the recommended intake for women (75 mg according to Harvard) . It's high in manganese and good for digestion. Manganese helps the body develop connecting tissue, sex hormones and blood clotting components. Ginger and turmeric together have a lot of immunity boosting properties as well, and are ideal to reduce inflammation.
