Easy Steps

01

Grind the bajra (pearl millet) and moong dal (split green gram) coarsely in a mixer. Set aside.

02

Take a pressure cooker, combine the coarsely ground bajra-moong dal mixture with 1 teaspoon of salt and 2.5 cups of water. Cook under pressure for 3 to 4 whistles, then turn off the heat and let the pressure release naturally.

03

In a separate pan, heat 2 tablespoons of ghee over medium heat. Add 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds and a pinch of asafoetida (hing). Sauté until the cumin seeds change colour and become fragrant.

04

Once the khichdi is cooked, pour the tempering over it and mix well. Serve hot with kadhi or yoghurt for a complete meal. Enjoy!
