How to Foster Gender Parity
Collaborate to empower all women and girls. When we challenge stereotypes, support fair policies, and share responsibilities, we create a world where women deserve a chance to grow.

Women's population takes up close to half of the country’s total population. As per a 2024 report by the Press Information Bureau, 48.4 percent of India’s population is female, while 51.6 percent of the population is male.

The gender gap in the labour market is still a tough nut to crack. Women’s participation in the workforce has dipped in recent years, and when it comes to economic opportunities, the playing field is far from level.
According to the World Economic Forum, women all over the world have been rejoining the workforce at a slightly faster pace than men, leading to a small but positive rebound from last year’s low. Between 2022 and 2023, the labour force participation equality shot up from 63 per cent to 64 per cent. While that’s a step in the right direction, parity is still at its second-lowest point since the index was first introduced in 2006 and well below its 2009 peak of 69 per cent. There’s progress, but plenty of room left to cover.
Unfair treatment based on gender hurts everyone and holds society back. Gender inequality is about not allowing rights, and wasting talent and potential. When women don’t have the same opportunities, half the world misses out on living to their fullest. Giving women the same chances in politics, work, and daily life will create a better world for all. If we join forces, we can break these barriers and build a future where everyone is valued and treated with respect.

Role of Collaboration in Gender Parity
At the current rate of progress, the gender gap will take around 170 years to close. Beyond the workplace, collaboration plays a crucial role in changing societal norms. Countries with strong policies supporting parental leave and equal pay see higher female workforce participation and economic growth. When policies, workplace culture, and community efforts align, we create an environment where both men and women can thrive.
Achieving gender equality isn’t just a single person or organisation's responsibility, it will take all of us. When businesses, governments, and communities work together, progress happens faster and on a larger scale.

Building a Safe And Equal World For Women
Reaching gender equality starts at home, in the workplace, and in everyday interactions.
Here’s how we can all contribute to a more balanced and fair society:
1. Challenge Gender Stereotypes
From a young age, boys and girls are often nudged into traditional roles. Girls are expected to be nurturing, while boys are encouraged to be tough. Breaking these outdated ideas starts with how we raise our children, the stories we tell, and the expectations we set. Encouraging kids to explore all interests, whether it’s sports or caregiving, helps create a future where people aren’t limited by gender.
2. Encourage Paternity Leave for Stronger Families
Caring for a newborn isn’t just a mother’s job. When fathers take paternity leave, they build deeper bonds with their children and create a more equal division of parenting duties. A 2024 report cited in the Human Research Management Review shows that countries with strong paternity leave policies see more engaged fathers and greater workforce participation among mothers.
3. Advocate for Family-Friendly Workplaces
Workplaces that support both mothers and fathers with flexible hours, parental leave, and childcare options help everyone thrive. When companies create an environment where employees can balance work and family, they boost morale, retention, and productivity.
4. Share the Responsibilities at Home
Housework and caregiving shouldn’t fall on one person’s shoulders. When partners share daily tasks; whether it’s cooking, cleaning, or looking after kids, it lightens the load. Thus, this step sets a powerful example for the next generation. Equality starts with everyday actions.
5. Empower Women and Girls
When women and girls have access to education, financial independence, and leadership opportunities, entire communities benefit. Apart from this, investing in women’s growth uplifts everyone.
6. Respect Reproductive Rights and Bodily Autonomy
Everyone should have the right to make decisions about their own body, health, and future. Access to contraception, healthcare, and education about reproductive choices allows individuals to plan their lives and pursue opportunities without limitations.
7. Voice To End Gender-Based Violence
Violence against women and marginalised communities is one of the biggest barriers to equality. Speaking up, supporting survivors, and pushing for policies that protect vulnerable groups can help create a world where safety and respect are non-negotiable.

No matter where we live in the world, gender equality is a basic human right and should remain as such. When men and women have equal opportunities, entire societies benefit. It plays a key role in reducing poverty, improving health, ensuring quality education, and creating a safer, more supportive environment for all children. When we push for justice, we’re building a stronger world for everyone.
